Coming from Google Groups?

If you’re used to the mailing list-style way of reading this, you can set Discourse up to act in a similar way by doing the following:

  1. Go to settings by clicking on your avatar in the top-right corner then clicking on the gear (:gear:) icon
  2. From the settings page, click on “Email” on the left side
  3. On the email settings you can configure notifications & digest mails, but there is also a checkbox at the bottom of the page for “mailing list mode” - checking that should make you receive posts as emails in the same manner as the previous mailing list

To create a post via email, you can send an email to swiprolog@discoursemail.com. This will create a new topic in the “uncategorized” category.

Do we also want people to start a topic from mail? That seems possible. See https://meta.discourse.org/t/start-a-new-topic-via-email-e-mail/62977

I’ve set it up now so mail to swiprolog@discoursemail.com will create uncategorized posts; I can also make some aliases for creating posts in specific categories if desired.

Might be too complicated. I wonder whether it is a good idea to setup a forward from some address at swi-prolog.org though, e.g., list@swi-prolog.org?

The discourse mail handler does seem to like forwarded messages. list@swi-prolog.org seems to be no option.
