Sometimes topics are tagged incorrectly and should be changed.
Discourse grants privileges based on trust level. At level Regular the privilege of Recategorize and rename topics is granted.
Should those with the privilege to recategorize topics
- Make the change without any notice to the OP if the category is obviously wrong.
- Respond in the topic to the OP that another category (tag) would possibly be more appropriate.
- Use option 1 or 2 depending upon the situation.
My personal choice is number 3.
